Comments

When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the information you submit alongside your IP address and browser details — used solely to filter spam. Your email address may be anonymized and cross-referenced with Gravatar to display a profile picture alongside approved comments. Gravatar’s privacy policy can be found at automattic.com/privacy.

Media

When uploading images to the site, please note that files containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS) can be read by others who download them. We recommend removing this data before uploading.

Cookies

Commenting on our site gives you the option to save your name, email, and website in cookies — so you’re not re-entering details each time. These cookies last one year.

Visiting our login page sets a short-lived cookie to check browser compatibility. It holds no personal data and clears when you close your browser. Logging in sets additional cookies to remember your session and display preferences — active for two days, or two weeks if you select “Remember Me.” Logging out removes them. Publishing or editing a post sets a one-day cookie referencing that post; again, no personal data.

Embedded content

Some pages may include content embedded from other sites — videos, images, articles. This content behaves as if you visited those sites directly and may involve their own cookies, tracking, or data collection, particularly if you’re logged into those platforms.

Data Sharing

Password reset requests include your IP address in the reset email. Visitor comments may be processed through an automated spam detection service. We don’t sell or share your data beyond what’s needed to run the site.

How long we keep your data

Comments and their associated data are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments without manual review. Registered users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time from their profile — except their username. Site administrators have access to this information as well.

Your Rights

You can request a full export of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it — except where we’re required to retain it for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
